Design Your Dream Prom Dress Contest

Can you picture the perfect prom dress for yourself or your friends and wish that you could see it in the stores? Aspiring  young fashion designers between the age of 14 -22 have a unique opportunity to  learn, via online webinars  what it takes to design a dream prom dress and get it to market. No previous design training or sewing experience is required! You will learn design considerations, fabric choices, manufacturing and pricing. Then you will use this information to create a design and enter it in the Design Your Dream Prom Dress contest. Judges from Attitude Couture, an exclusive label collection of special occasion wear and the American Sewing Guild will choose five finalists based on originality, technique, marketability and quality. Then, the community will vote for their favorite to win.

If your dress is chosen as the winner, the  design will be sent to the factory of Attitude Couture and produced for the 2015 Prom Collection.  The winning design will be featured in Attitude Couture’s 2015 Prom Collection.  The lucky winner will also accompany Attitude Couture to New York market  in the Fall of 2014 (expenses paid).

The contest is open to anyone aged 14 to 22. Must be a  U.S. resident. Entries will be accepted between October 15, 2013 and April 25, 2014. A $25 entry fee includes access to a series of on-line classes about designing the entry, Q&A sessions with an Attitude Couture representative, access to the complete online library of ASG sewing Webinars and videos and a one-year Junior membership in the American Sewing Guild. The entry fee is waived for current ASG Junior members.

Submit your entry

Entrant must be a member of the American Sewing Guild to enter. If you are not yet a member, please visit www.ASG.org, Note that it may take 2-4 weeks for your membership to be processed. If you have become a member but have not yet received your membership #, enter APPLIED in the Member # box below.

Each contestant may enter only one design and the entire design package must be submitted as one pdf file.

Once you hit the Submit button, you will receive a confirmation email that your entry was received. Your original design file will not be included in that email but will be sent to our offices. You will not receive any further notification of receipt of your entry.
